Christer Dahlberg
Walsall Leather Skills Centre Tutor and Centre Manager
Christer is a Qualified Saddler and member of the Society of Master Saddlers.
He taught the Cordwainers Diploma in Saddlery at Capel Manor College before joining the Walsall Leather Skills Centre as Tutor and Centre Manager.
He combines a wealth of knowledge about leather and tools with extensive leatherworking skills, to deliver foundational training to our students, providing them with the best possible start on their learning journey.
With nearly two decades of experience Christer is recognised for the granularity of his instruction and practical demonstrations.
Christer teaches a range of our courses – Foundation, Intermediate Bridle, Level 2 & Level 3 Saddle, Saddle Repairs & Flocking.
On his increasingly popular Tool Maintenance & Sharpening course, he teaches students to sharpen, maintain and set-up or adjust their tools specifically for their use, to improve accuracy and quality of their work.
He has been a prize winner at The National Saddlery Competition over many years including winning second prize for his very first Side Saddle entry in 2025.
Drawing on his experience gained over the years; Christer supports Walsall Leather Skills Centre students and graduates at all stages of their leather working career. He also provides 1:1 instruction and consultations to support with problem solving or specialised leather work training needs.
He enjoys developing new techniques to solve leatherwork challenges and is skilled at recreating or restoring/repairing vintage or damaged antique leather goods. He is regularly commissioned to make bespoke one-off pieces for private clients.
